They will be delivering 7 frozen meals, with bread, milk, juice and fresh fruit, once a week instead of hot meals 5 days per week. Clients will not only have better quality food, but will also have meals on weekends and on holidays. The meals can be heated in a microwave or an oven and clients will be able to eat what they want at whatever time of day they prefer. This new system will allow them to deliver meals to outlying areas of the county that have not been reached in the past due to food temperature requirements. Case managers have identified special needs clients who will still receive hot meals 5 days per week and 2 frozen meals for the weekend. In addition to these changes, we are recruiting volunteers to provide an hour or two of companionship each week to clients who are homebound or to provide telephone reassurance each day, which can be done from the volunteer's home. If you would be interested in donating your time for these services, please contact the Senior Services Program Coordinator at 386-437-7300, select 2, extension 315.
